Everyday learning about feelings becomes more concrete when children can look at a face, point to the emotion and practise saying its name. 10 Workbook 5 – Flashcard on Emotions is a printable feelings flashcard workbook designed for children and adolescents with disabilities, with a focus on recognising emotions in picture form and using simple language to name them.
The contents list covers life skills illustrations of emotions and a sequence of picture cards. The emotion cards include angry, happy, shy, sad, scared, confused, funny and ashamed, followed by scenario-based pictures such as perfumed girl, toilet girl, rabbit girl, ice cream truck, broken toy, stealing sandwich, dog chase, lightning, win race, fried mee, puppy fear, father comes home and snake.
A teaching page for Picture 1: Angry shows the practical structure used in the workbook. It gives objectives such as recognising anger in a picture, pointing to the angry face when asked, and verbalising the emotion when prompted. The suggested activities include pointing to face feelings and naming feelings, making it suitable for short, repeated practice in class, therapy sessions or at home.
Special education teachers, disability support workers, speech and language practitioners, occupational therapists, parents and carers may find it useful when working with kids or teenagers who need visual support for emotional expression.
