When Something I Did Upset Someone Reflection Sheet

Two-page child-friendly reflection worksheet titled When Something I Did Upset Someone, with seven prompts about feelings, empathy, making amends and trying a different response next time.

Use this printable reflection activity after a disagreement, hurtful comment or difficult moment to help a child slow down, consider another person’s perspective and decide what to do next. It offers a clear, supportive way to talk through an incident at home, in school, in counselling or during a restorative conversation.

Parents, carers, teachers, school pastoral staff and children’s counsellors will find this reflection worksheet particularly suited to primary-age children and younger teenagers who need help repairing a relationship after upsetting someone. The child-friendly prompts support emotional literacy, empathy, accountability and problem-solving without requiring a long written explanation.

“When Something I Did Upset Someone” is arranged as a seven-step think-through activity. It begins by asking what happened and what the child said or did, then invites them to consider how the other person may have felt and what clues they noticed in the person’s face, body language, words or actions.

The later prompts turn attention towards the child’s own experience, including what they were feeling at the time and what was happening for them. They are then asked what the other person may have needed, what they could say or do now to put things right, and what they could try differently next time.

Print the two-page sheet for a calm follow-up after playground conflict, sibling arguments, classroom incidents or friendship problems. Adults can read each question aloud, scribe responses, or use it as a conversation prompt with children who find apologising, perspective-taking or making amends difficult.
