My Pyramid of Needs Worksheets for Children

Preview of My Pyramid of Needs Worksheets, showing a five-level children’s needs pyramid and two writing and drawing activity sheets about what a child has and needs.

Use these children’s needs pyramid worksheets to help a child identify what is already helping them feel well and what they need more of. The printable activities support gentle conversations about basic needs, safety, belonging, confidence and personal growth, making them suitable for one-to-one work, classroom wellbeing sessions or family discussions.

In a school pastoral session, counselling appointment or social work visit, these worksheets can give children a clear, visual way to talk about the parts of life that help them feel settled. They are particularly suited to primary-aged children, young people who benefit from drawing or writing prompts, and adults supporting children through change, worry or difficult circumstances.

The pack includes an illustrated Pyramid of Needs poster that introduces five levels: basic needs, safety, belonging, feeling good about myself, and growing. Each level uses child-friendly examples, including food, sleep, clothes, a safe home, caring relationships, encouragement, learning, play and working towards the future.

Two matching needs pyramid activity sheets invite a child to consider both “what I have” and “what I need”. Open writing and drawing spaces encourage them to name people, places, routines and activities that support their wellbeing, then identify where extra help, care, connection or opportunity may be needed.

Practitioners can use the pages as a child-centred assessment activity, a check-in tool, or a starting point for care planning and goal setting. Teachers, family support workers, school counsellors and foster carers may find the structure helpful when discussing emotional needs, friendships, feeling safe at home or school, self-esteem, and positive next steps with kids or children.
