This easy-to-read guide supports people with learning disabilities who may be feeling low, sad, worried or struggling with their mental wellbeing. It explains emotions and mental health in a simple and accessible way, helping people understand their feelings, recognise changes in mood and know when to ask for support.

The resource is designed for people with learning disabilities, family carers, support workers, social workers, teachers and health professionals. It can be used at home, in schools, supported living services or community settings to encourage conversations about emotional wellbeing, mental health and coping strategies.

Using clear language and practical advice, the guide helps readers talk about feelings such as sadness, loneliness, stress, anxiety and low mood. It also explores ways to improve wellbeing, build confidence, manage difficult emotions and stay connected with others. The resource supports emotional awareness, communication skills and self-advocacy while encouraging people to seek help when needed.

This mental health and wellbeing resource is useful for supporting emotional literacy, mental health awareness, learning disability support, behaviour understanding, self-esteem, social inclusion and healthy coping skills. It is suitable for adults and young people with learning disabilities and can support person-centred practice, wellbeing work and emotional support planning.
