The Person Posing A Risk To Children Assessment Framework is a comprehensive tool designed for social workers to assess the potential risk posed by individuals who may pose a threat to children, regardless of whether they have been convicted of any offense. This framework serves as a guide for discussions with the Person Posing A Risk (PPR) and other household members when social workers become aware of their presence in a household with children or their contact with such households.
The assessment framework is not meant to be completed as a form but rather used as a framework for discussion and analysis. It consists of several sections including an introduction, identification of behaviors of concern exhibited by the PPR, evaluation of family and environmental factors surrounding the PPR, examination of the child and their family, consideration of support and monitoring systems in place, analysis of the gathered information, and making informed decisions based on the assessment.
The framework consists of the following sections:
- The PPR behaviours of concern
- Family and environmental factors of the PPR
- The Child and their family
- Support and monitoring systems
